Winter Vacations To-do List

Hello my lovely readers! I'm back from my much deserved break, during which I had to give my semester exams. Just 2 more semesters left! I hope you all are (and were) well. I wasn't expecting a lot page views and Facebook likes while I was away, but boy was I wrong! My blog's been just as popular, and it's all thanks you! ^_^

Moving on, as I come closer and closer to the last exam, I start to make a mental list of things that I need to do in vacations. It's not much, but it helps to wake me up in the morning (otherwise I'd wake up by noon).

A Virtual Blog Tour

Hey everyone!

A couple of weeks back Jadirah from Jasmine Catches Butterflies (love her blog name!!) nominated for this tag post. I was pretty clueless about this tag. I mean, I just sit and write whatever I feel like. She talked to me some days back about it and I decided to do the post! Thanks Jadirah for the nomination! <3

Wanna know what goes on my blog? Let's begin!

1. What am I working on?

I'm never happy with my banner. After I'm done with this I'll be putting up a new banner. And next month, I'll be putting up another one! ^_^ So you see, I'm never satisfied.

I'm working on writing more and more posts per month. My hectic uni life doesn't give me a lot of time to sit and write whenever I feel like. So I've recently started to write 2-3 posts on the weekends, while not compromising on the quality of my posts

I'm also trying to improve my photography skills, not that I'm getting better at it. I've recently started to use my sister's DSLR, 'cause my Samsung Note's charger kinda died. I'm also trying to use different backgrounds, but of course my nail designs need to be photographed on my balcony because they look better in the sun.

I was also thinking about doing some hairstyle tutorial posts. But that's just an idea right now.

2. How does my work differ from others of its type/genre?

I love to write informally. Not in a trashy way, but as if i'm talking to my readers. I always have a story behind each product that I use or every blog post. I also blog very 'to the point' and not overly detailed. I try to bring 'very me' content to my blog so it's original and different from the rest, for instance, my skin and hair concerns.

3. Why do you write what you do?

Easy. I love talking about beauty related topics. I love using different beauty products, comparing them, giving beauty advice, and of course, sharing my nail art.

4. How does my writing process work?

Well, right now it's not working out so well ^_^. I used Microsoft OneNote on my laptop, wrote down all ideas I ever had, and then one day my laptop died! While I was healing from this disastrous blow, I noted down some ideas on my HTC phone. And I had to reset my phone as well 'cause it wasn't working so well because of app overload. So, until I get my Samsung Note charger, I will be creating drafts for every post I need to do. That's way safer than writing on my phone. But I think should get myself a cute little blog notebook.

So, that was (a really boring) blog tour of JayBee's Journal. These are my nominations:

Samar from The Beauty Scrolls
Anushae from Anushae Says
Fizzah & Sadaf from The Pout Painters
Areesha & Omaimah from The Syeda Sisters
Rida from Painting It Pink

Have a great week!

September to October Empties

It's probably the first time that I'm doing an empties post right on time. It's probably because I couldn't wait to empty and throw out stuff, just so I could begin my winter skincare shopping! ^_^

Hey there! Hope you all had a great week! My week just passed by making beauty wishlists - it'a kind of my 'happy place'. Anyway, I realized I haven't done a nail art tutorial in a while, so here's a tutorial  for one of my favorite nail designs for fall!

Eye Love: Maybelline The Colossal Kajal & Mascara

Maybelline The Colossal Kajal & Mascara, Pakistani Nail Art Beauty Blog

Hi there gorgeous girls!

I'm sure the whole world has now tried The Colossal Kajal from Maybelline. I've been using purple liner lately ('cause it makes my brown eyes pop) so a new kajal on the block didn't really sound interesting to me. But when I was wearing a fawn colored dress on Eid-ul-Fitr, and Revlon Peach Parfait on my lips, I thought it would all seem too dull. So, at chand raat, when my sister and I went to a local super market to get some last minute Eid preparation stuff (wink wink), I picked this baby up!

Eid Manicure: How Nude

Neutral nail art design, Pakistani Beauty Nail Art Blog

For the last post of the day, here's the manicure I did on Eid. I wore a bright pink and grey dress, pretty funky right? Apart from that, I was also feeling a bit low, so none of the eye-catching colors were catching my eye! I felt like wearing a neutral color on my nails for a change.

But the truth is, I do not own many neutral nail polishes. Such is my love for brightly colored nails. I only have one nude nail color, #249 from Clazona. So, I applied it to my nails. But how could I just let it be?

Neutral nail art design, Pakistani Beauty Nail Art Blog

I picked up my silver glitter polish from Ruby Hammer Collection and layered it over the nude. Lastly, I added a round little rhinestone to complete my manicure.

I really loved wearing a neutral color on my nails for the first. My nails looked clean and tidy. I might even try wearing one by itself!

Dry Skin Diary: Time to moisture up!

Autumn Favorites, tips for dry skin, Pakistani beauty nail art blog

Hello all my dry skin buddies! As the cool winds start to come out of hiding in the morning and at night, my skin starts to feel tight and look wrinkly (eww). Even my hair loses the oomph. Here's everything that I have pulled out right now to save me from the issues:

Makeup Revolution Redemption Palette Iconic 3

Makeup Revolution Redemption Palette Iconic 3 Swatches Review, Pakistani Beauty Nail Art Blog

Hey there! ^_^

All those who don't know, Makeup Revolution is a newly launched, drugstore brand from London. It caters to all your beauty needs at very affordable prices while not comprising at quality. It's available at Superdrug outlets.

You: Another brand not available in Pakistan? Yippee.

Well, let me just stop you there. Thanks to, we, having no Superdrug in sight, can now can get our hands on this awesome new brand and at very reasonable prices. So, while I was searching around J4G, I landed on these eye shadow palettes from the brand. A little googling later, I found that Iconic 3 is actually a great dupe for Naked 3. I adore the rose gold and taupe-y purples from Naked 3, so I just had to order this palette! A week later, I had this palette in my hands and boy was I impressed! ^_^

Moo Nails

Cow Nail Art, Pakistani Beauty Nail Art Blog

Hey everyone! Hope you had a great week! My days are going pretty boring actually. I have been staying home from uni A LOT for the past 2 weeks. I'm just really really tired of sitting in class and listen to boring lectures all day long! But after I take the decision to stay home, I'm like, 'What do I do now?' So yup, this is my life right now. It'll be winter soon so I'm sensing more laziness in the future!

4 Ways To Use L'oreal Elvive Hair Oil

how to use l'oreal elvive hair oil, l'oreal elvive hair oil review, Pakistani nail art and beauty blog

Hi beauties!

I know majority of Pakistani girls don't use anything beyond oils, shampoo and conditioner for their hair. And of course, the herbal stuff. Leaving hair oil or serums in your hair after washing is a new concept for a lot of us. I have been lusting after Herbal Essences leave-in conditioners and serums for a very long time, but I've never even seen a wide variety of their shampoos displayed in stores, so everything else is totally out of the question. If you have dry hair that needs some oomph, or frizzy hair that needs some taming, then you need to grab yourself a hair serum asap! Here are some of the ways I like to use this multipurpose hair oil from L'oreal Paris, that's readily available here in Pakistan.

Revlon Strawberry Shortcake, Peach Parfait & Berry Smoothie Lip Butters Swatches Review Pakistan, Pakistani Beauty and Nail art blog

Hi there everyone! ^_^ Hope you all are having a great day! I know the world does not need a another review for the Revlon Lip Butters, but I just wanted to give my feedback and show you all some swatches! I have shades Peach Parfait, Strawberry Shortcake and Berry Smoothie. They retail for around PKR 900 locally. My sister got these as a trio pack from the Dubai Duty Free, and I didn't even tell her I wanted these! That's some sister telepathy right there!

Makeup Guide For University/College Students

Hi everyone! My little sister is all grown up now and it's almost time for her to attend uni. That gave me the idea to share the makeup products that have worked really well for me ever since I started uni myself! So, if you're still shopping for your basic makeup kit, here's some help.

I think it's best to keep your makeup light and natural for uni/college. For this reason I have mentioned matte finishes the most. For your ease, I have only mentioned products that are easily available at stores like Naheed, EBCO, Scentsation, etc and online at Brands that are available at include Milani, Jordana, MUA and Sleek MakeUp. All other brands you can find locally at stores as well.

Revenants Trilogy by Amy Plum #1: Die For Me

Hey there!

Remember when I started reading paranormal novels? Here's the third series I picked up. It's a trilogy by Amy Plum, called 'Revenants', though it's never mentioned on any of the books. All the books have different names; Die For Me, Until I Die, If I Should Die, in that order. I was just snooping around GoodReads, looking for an interesting paranormal to read, when the book cover of Die For Me (and later the story) caught my attention. I downloaded these from I saw these at Liberty Books recently, priced at between PKR 800-1100.

I will not be going into a complete review of all the books.I'm no critique. I just want to share my thoughts on the series and introduce it so you can read it as well. Here's my thoughts on the first one.

Die For Me

The story is based in Paris, which I really really love. It just adds to the whole mystic of the novel. The girl's (Katie) parents die. She and her flirtatious sister, Georgia, move to Paris to live with their grandparents (Mamie and Papy, adorable!). At first I was pretty bummed out though. Katie finds it hard to face reality. Katie is a wreck. Katie finds guy. Guy brings Katie back to reality. Guy ditches Katie. Katie is a wreck, again. Poor Katie.

Is it too late for a daisy manicure?

Dry Skin Diary: Milk Cleansing

Hey there pretty girls! I decided to create this series of my skincare endevours for all the dry skin beauties reading my blog. Since this is the first post, I decided to start at the base; cleansing.

Disclaimer: It’s going to be a boring post with just text and no pictures, except this one below.

Few months back I discovered the power of milk cleansing. Milk cleansing isn’t some kind of weekly, deep cleansing treatment. If you have dry skin, you need to toss that foaming cleanser aside and use a milk cleanser daily! Yes, DAILY. I know that sounds like a major pain, but trust me you’ll love your skin afterwards.

Happy Independence Day!

Hey hey!

Many many prayers going out to Pakistan on this day and always. I hope all the citizens can prove it in the coming year that we really deserve this independence. I hope we keep our nation clean from all evils. I hope all those their lives abroad and serving others come back here and serve their nation instead. And those who are already serving here, I hope they do it with most sincerity and integrity.

And I hope there will be more than 20 actuaries in Pakistan in the future! :-P

Anyway, how could I miss this opportunity to create some patriotic nail art?

Eid Nails: Laces

Nail art tutorial for Eid Laces, Pakistani Beauty blog, Pakistani Nail art

Hey there everyone!

Here's another design I created for Eid. The theme is 'Laces'. Sexy right? ^_^ Just make sure to keep the base color light, so that the black lace design would be the center of the look. You could do a cuter look by making the laces white and the base color a pink or lilac. I prefer to use polishes with a frost finish as a base for this design, 'cause cream finish ones would just look dull!

The Body Shop Aloe Starter Kit

The Body Shop Aloe Starter Kit, Pakistani Beauty Blog

Hey there beauties! How are you all? I’m feeling really lazy these days. The samosas and pakoras everyday are not working out for me. I’ve been trying to get into the habit of eating dinner at iftari for a couple of days. I NEED to eat more fruits as well, otherwise I’m gonna turn into a skeleton I swear! Bring on the peaches and cream! ^_^

I’ve been using the Aloe Starter Kit from The Body Shop on and off for almost a year now. Now that I’ve used it all seasons I think a review is in order. For reference, I have dry/normal skin, that’s very dry and red in winters and kinda normal in summer. I do not have very sensitive skin, just some red patches around my nose. So what am I doing with this kit from The Body Shop that’s meant for sensitive skin? Well, it’s one of the goodies my sister brought for me from UK and after using it I must say that it does wonders for dry/normal skin!

My new favorite scrub?

Garnier Light Gentle Exfoliating Facial Scrub, Pakistani Beauty BlogGarnier Light Gentle Exfoliating Facial Scrub, Pakistani Beauty Blog

Hey everyone! Hope your fast went really well today!

It seems that I may have discovered my new favorite scrub. Could it be? After using St. Ives Apricot Scrub for more than a year I realized that walnut shells just aren't the thing for me. Even though I love using it as a body scrub, I find that it is way too harsh for the delicate facial skin. Especially after my University started, my skin has been really red. I used Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Scrub, which is ah-mazing stuff! After I ran out of that, I wanted to try Garnier Light Exfoliating Wash. I couldn't find it at my local store, but I found this gem instead.

Happy Ramadan + I'm Free

happy ramadan, pakistani beauty blog

Hey everyone! Hope you're all having a great day. I just wanted to drop by and wish all my beautiful readers a very happy and blessed Ramadan! ^_^ Just remember to make the most of this holy month. Pray and ask for forgiveness as much as you can. And as far as feeling weak during fasting goes, I always try to recite Quran; it really helps me get over the weakness. I've been trying to wake up a little earlier in the morning, by 3:20 am, so I can offer Tahajjud prayers before having sehri. After Ramadan's over, I'm really going to try to maintain this habit.

Beauty UK Nail Gift Set in Wild Child

Beauty UK Nail Gift Set swatches Wild Child, Pakistani Beauty blog, Pakistani blog

Hey hey! ^_^

My 'Investments' exam went great last week. Woohoo! Now I've got 4 more exams left. I've been studying super hard for my next paper, it's the toughest one this semester, Actuarial Mathematics (even the name sends chills!) So anyway, I hope you're all doing great and having a great summer!

I won this nail colors set in a giveaway (my first ever :D) around January this year, thanks to The Bedside Dreams Diary. I already had a Beauty UK Cosmetics nail gift in Urban Girl, so I was really excited to get another one. The colors are fantastic and all have a glossy creme finish, and for the price, the quality is awesome! Each mini nail polish has 8 ml of product in it. There are a total of 5 sets, with coordinating colors in each. They ship internationally through their website and their products are also available at Superdrug for 4.49 GBP.

Look how cute and tiny they are! The colors show up opaque with 2 coats, but with the yellow I have to apply 3 coats. They apply nice and smooth and the wear time is 2-3 days.

Beauty UK Nail Gift Set swatches Wild Child, Pakistani Beauty blog, Pakistani blog

1. Green - Really vibrant apple green (in my color dictionary, apple green is a tad more dull than parrot green but still bright).

2. Purple - It's a really gorgeous lavender color, the kinda purple that barbie would wear if she ever got tired of pink ^_^. This is my favorite of the bunch hands down.

3. Yellow - A bright yellow. It's not neon, just a sunny warm yellow.

4. Red - This is a classic red with orange undertones. This is a gorgeous color for light-medium Pakistani skin tones.

5. Pink - A very 'in-your-face' candy pink. It's almost neon. It's my go-to pink these days.

6. Navy Blue - It's dusty yet bright at the same time.

So, all the shades are super bright, yet they all would look amazing on our warm and medium Pakistani skin tones. If you love collecting bright polishes then I suggest you check this set out. Beauty UK has also released a new set recently in Tropical with similar hues.

Have a great day! <3

Guest Post Over At "What Fatemah Says"

Hey everyone! So sorry for being MIA lately. I had my exams, then they got postponed and now I have them again. I have no idea when my exams are going to FINALLY end. Maybe the end of June. Plus, this heat is making me nauseous! >.< Hope you all are doing okay in this heat.

So a couple of months back a fellow beauty blogger Fatemah Sajwani, of What Fatemah Says, hosted a giveaway, where the winner would do a guest post on her blog, and I won (Yayy!).

garnier ambre solaire review

Hey lovelies! ^_^ Hope you're doing well! It's starting to heat up now (bye bye spring) and it's the perfect time to share my sun protection loves. Spring Florals

Spring nail art design

Hey girls ^_^ I took a day off again. I'm still not feeling well :( and I have a Mid term exam on Tuesday of the subject that I despise! Yup, DESPISE! Okay. The subject isn't all that bad. But the teacher.. ughh!

Moving on..

Since spring is still here I felt like doing my nails mint green and pink. ^_^ I really love how refreshing that combination is. But not more than peach and mint green of course! I painted my nails mint green first, from the Beauty UK Nail Gift set in Urban Girl that I showed you all in My Favorite Nail Colors for Spring. Then I made some irregular vertical lines with white polish. After letting that dry up well, I did some pink dotted flowers with my dotting tool. For my thumb, I painted it white, then made a big pink flower and added a swirly mint green leaf.

Hope you liked this quick NOTD! Thanks so much for visiting and have a great day! <3

My Favorite Nail Colors For Spring

nail colors for spring 2014, latest nail polish 2014, Pakistani beauty blog

Hello everyone! :-) I have caught some virus and it's makin' me sick (literally)! So I didn't go to school today and that means.. another blog! And it also explains the better photography, better for me at least. Anyway, this blog is about the nail colors that I love this year in spring. You know spring, right? The season after winter when it's boiling hot during the day yet not so much at night. When there're more overpriced lawn prints on t.v than morning show wedding series gala. Yup you got it now. The season lasts a short time so I try to make the most of it. And I do that best by painting my nails pretty colors that remind me of flowers, grass and fruity juices (yum!). So let's see what I have here to show you :)

Hey girls! Hope you're doing great.^_^ Today I'm going to share with you a little daily deep cleansing routine that I have been following for 2 months. I've had the POND'S White Beauty Cleansing for like 8 months now but I hardly used it, (I confess, I didn't completely understand the purpose of cleansing milks before ^_^) until I purchased Pure White Deep Cleansing Facial Foam with Activated Carbon in February. I use them together everyday and the result is smooth and clear skin.

Nail Art Tutorial - Roses

Roses Simple Nail Art Design Tutorial

Hello my pretties! :) I haven't been blogging for a while. My apologies! First, there was my best friend's wedding (Yayyy!) and then the next day I got really sick. I'm feeling a lot better now, so, decided to blog.

I have a nail art tutorial here for you girls. I used a toothpick to create roses, because I wanted a rough effect and it's way easier to control a toothpick than a brush. I couldn't decide if I wanted pink or orange, so I just went with coral. ^_^ So grab a tooth, some polishes and let's begin!

Pakistani Nail Polish Brands

Pakistani makeup, Pakistani nail polish, Pakistani beauty blog

Hello everyone! Hope you're having a nice day. ^_^

I decided to put together this list of the nail polishes that are produced in Pakistan. Instead on spending so much money by buying nail colors from MAC, Maybelline, Rimmel and the like, sometimes we should show some patriotism and buy nail polishes produced in our own country. Being a nail art geek I always need so many colors and getting local polishes is very pocket friendly. They're actually pretty good. Here's the list.

The Lacquer Legion - Reinvention

Hey girls! I have seen all nail bloggers taking part in challenges. However, they required too much commitment. I'm not even sure if I can post a manicure once every week now that my university has started. I came across this challenge at Chalkboard Nails and I thought huraahhh! Just a single mani for an entire month. Perfect for me ^_^ and today is the day to post the design.

So the theme for this month is 'Reinvention'. I re-created on of my own designs that I did when I discovered my obsession for pretty nails. ^_^ This is the one I created.
