Stepping Into Paranormal

I'm normally love to and only read funny and romantic chic-lits, with some occassional literature. This year I decided to try some other genres. I stepped into pananormal with Meg Cabot's take on vampires, Insatiable

I really enjoyed the first book in the series. I actually stayed up all night to finish it, that is how much I loved it. ^_^ The most hilarious part is how she grinds her teeth in her sleep. But the the sequel, Overbite was kind of a downer (I'm sure everybody who's read it agrees with me on this). Especially since I stayed up again to finish it. :( It wasn't that bad. It was just an okay ending to a great start. I'm not even sure if it was an ending or not, which really disturbs the nerd in me. I read some place that Meg Cabot's combining Mediator and Insatiable 3 in a single book. But I guess it's just a rumor.

If you are new to paranormal, you should defintely read these two. They were light and hilarious. And ofcourse, the presence of one of Meg Cabot's heroines. But there were some scary parts, like the hellmouth in New Jersey. It was creepy.

Next we have Meg Cabot's take on the underworld, Abandon. It's based on the story of greek god and ruler of the underworld, Hades and Persephone, daughter of  Zeus. It starts really messed up and you won't understand some parts. But things start clearing up after a while and you get hooked. The heroine, Pierce, is proclaimed crazy and weird and the hero, John, is a 'wild thing'. He's from the underworld. Oh and he has silver eyes ^_^. Anyway, I'd really be killing the story if I reveal anything more. All I can say is that it's really a must-read for the girlies who like paranormal genre.

In the sequel, Underworld, the hero takes his heroine to the underworld with him. Now this was the part i've been waiting for since I started the first book. So I really enjoyed the sequel. It was really funny. Especially, the heroine's concerns regarding the demon baby. But the ending gets a bit weird.

The third book, Awaken, was all kinds of weird. However, the ending was good and happy, that's all that matters right? Pierce's dad even thinks of making money out of underworld. Sadly, there's no news of another book in the series. :( There were whole 2 worlds in this book and they ended in the third book so I was kinda sad for a while. Im really hoping Meg Cabot's coming up with a fourth one. Pierce and John's world has ended for now.

Some quotes from the Abandon trilogy

“I had no idea,” he said, with a dry smile, “that you were so bloodthirsty, Pierce. Should we try to find you one of those pirate costumes?” Awaken

“So you drowned to death,” I said softly. “Like me. That’s another thing we have in common.." Underworld

“She learned,” Mr. Liu said, taking a menacing step forward, “that boys who smart off to ladies often get slapped.” Underworld

“How was I supposed to act?” he asked. “You kept doing things like throw tea in my face.” Abandon

I didn’t have a Facebook or Twitter page or blog or anything like that. I had enough people following me in real life. Abandon

I loved how Meg Cabot uses real myths, names and facts in these 5 books and then she mentions them in the end. It makes you wanna know more about those myths.

So, this was my intro for all the non-paranormal readers. I started reading the series 'Revenants' by Amy Plum. Will be reviewing it soon once im done.
